An Artist Gives Hermit Crabs Crazy New Homes
Hermit crabs carry their homes on their back in the form of an empty
seashell that they scoop up and use both as shelter and as protection
from predators.Inomata’s bespoke shells are crowned with tiny buildings and miniature
cities. Delicately rendered in transparent plastic, they’re designed
primarily as aesthetic statements, which Inomata ties back to concepts
of identity, adaptation, and place.
