Elephant Sculpture Created by Folding a Single Piece of Paper

Elephant Sculpture Created by Folding a Single Piece of Papersipho-mabona-elephant-8
Switzerland-based origami artist Sipho Mabona has created a life-sized elephant from just one sheet of paper measuring 15 by 15 meters. The project was financed through Internet-crowdfunding site Indiegogo where he raised over $26,000 from 631 funders. A webcam was installed that allowed people to watch the massive elephant take shape. The elephant, which stands more than 3 meters tall, took a team of nearly a dozen people over four weeks to create. Mabona had originally expected the attempt to take three to four people. The work is now on display in the museum KKLB in Beromünster, Switzerland.

World first Artwork to Use Google Glass

World first Artwork to Use Google Glass
There's a lot of interesting facts about this art piece by David Datuna. Called Portrait of America, it's a 12-foot American flag sculpture made up of about 2,000 eyeglass lenses as well as 400 or so famous portraits that either magnify or shrink underneath them. These embedded images include historical and contemporary figures who've helped shape America into what it is today. You have George Washington, John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. as well as Lady Gaga, Steve Jobs and Michael Jackson. "It's about people who really created this country. It's about people who wanted to change this country, build this country," Datuna said. "I want to show the American culture, the American journey." But, of course, that's not the most interesting part. Slip on a pair of Google Glasses on hand and watch how this piece turns into, what the artist calls, a "living organism."

Kayakers found a ghost ship on the Ohio River. Even though the ship was 110 years-old, it was structurally sound enough to explore. Nature had completely taken over the ship. The vessel started out as a sight-seeing boat in New York City. Then, it was repurposed to fight in both World Wars. In the 1980s, the ship was decommissioned and taken to a tributary near the owner’s land. It has rested there ever since and now the boat still sits there silently in Ohio, full of history and memories.

Ponderosa Pines are almost everywhere at Bryce Canyon. Take any one of the numerous hiking trails throughout the National Park and you will almost inevitably encounter these trees. However, the most spectacular sights can be had at Ponderosa Canyon, so named because of the huge Ponderosa Pines that rise from the canyon floor. At higher elevations, the Ponderosa Pines give way to Blue Spruce, Douglas-fir and White Fir, which often confuses visitors not expecting to find themselves surrounded by a forest of Spruce and Fir in a canyon named after the Ponderosa Pine.
