World Design Rankings 2015world design rankings 2015every year, the world design rankings (WDR) of countries are announced based on the number of design awards won at international juried design competitions and awards. the ranking aims to provide additional data and insights to economists and journalists regarding the state-of-art in design industry. the ultimate aim of the world design rankings is to contribute to global design culture through advocating and highlighting good design. the rankings give a snapshot of the latests creations and design potentials of countries worldwide by highlighting their creative strengths, design weaknesses and available opportunities.

 score points legend:
 platinum award counts as six (6)
 a golden award counts as five (5)
 silver award counts as (4)
 bronze award counts as three (3)
 A’ award (marked as iron) counts as two (2)




five new countries are included in the 2015 rankings: pakistan, bangladesh, colombia, swaziland, qatar and democratic people’s republic of korea. top 10 changed slightly this year; china ascended in the ladder from 7th to 5th position, which moved great britain and japan a step back. furthermore, greece joined the top 10 from the 10th position by pushing down republic of korea which now holds the 11th position.

World Largest Vault for Storing Seeds in Norway  Way up north in the remote Arctic Svalbard archipelago, shrouded in permafrost and tucked 427 feet into a mountain, lies the  Svalbard Global Seed Vault . Located on the Norwegian Island of Spitsbergen, this futuristic facility safeguards over 850,00 seed copies from all over the planet in case of a global catastrophe. Created as a way to preserve biodiversity of the planet, the vault contains duplicate samples of essential seed varieties that are held in gene banks around the world.

Two of these are quite majestic. One is the  Monument to the Unknown Soldier , which we already wrote about. The other is the Al-Shaheed Monument.
